The Department of Conservation of Antiquities and Works of Art of the Ephorate of Palaeoanthropology-Speleology is responsible for:
a) The conservation of cave sites, the antiquities located within them, and the movable ancient and palaeontological monuments originating from them.
b) Supporting permanent and temporary exhibitions, and carrying out the conservation, protection, restoration, and aesthetic presentation of monuments and all cultural objects originating from caves.
c) Preparing and evaluating conservation and protection studies for antiquities and works of art originating from caves, as well as supervising their implementation.
d) Maintaining an archive of conservation projects and studies, scientific work, and documentation related to the monuments under the Ephorate’s jurisdiction.
