The Museum of Byzantine Culture invites you cordially to the lecture of the art historian, Professor Mrs. Efthymia Georgiadou, titled "Mutations of the religious iconography in modern art" on Wednesday 28 March 2018 at 20.00 in the Amphitheatre "Melina Mercouri" of the Museum. Dr. Agathoniki Tsilipakou, director of the Museum, will recite a prologue.
Mrs. Georgiadou will speak about the emergence in modern art of subjects, related to religious iconography, but without a cult character and without the limitations of traditional representation; subjects which testify to the importance of religious symbols that remain rooted in collective memory.
The event is taking place in the context of the temporary exhibition "Templon. Sacred figures, invisible gates of faith", which will last until Saturday 24 March.
